Ehren Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 A new Global Message theme setting will be included with the next batch of theme updates. It'll come with a "dismiss" button (if enabled), allowing your members to hide it once they've seen it. Their choice is saved via a cookie. This will be helpful for many circumstances.. Alerting your members of an important announcement, or when downtime may be experienced, or displaying a "This site uses cookies" message, etc. 1
Prostheta Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Ehren, that would get you an honourable mention in my will. Make it so. 1

There is even a default block for announcements.
The Heff Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Isn't this what announcements are for? There is even a default block for announcements. I don't find announcements to be that useful. Anything longer than a couple of lines and the message is truncated. The users have to navigate to the announcement like any other thread. Having a message displayed directly on the page, without any user interaction being required, is a powerful way to deliver messages. 3

Hadn't really used the announcements so I didn't know how they operated in full. I just upgraded from 3.4.x to 4.1.x when 4.1 came out so still getting a grasp on some stuff in 4. I just made my own theme and currently tweaking it and coming up with my own CSS framework to make future theme creations much quicker. Waiting on some IPSFocus/Skinbox theme updates to purchase some others. =) ------- Ehren would you care to share how someone would go about creating custom ACP settings for themes. I've seen your bug reports where you show different tabs and ordering, and I haven't seen any way of setting/configuring such things. I understand if you don't want to share some trade secret or something.

Yep, there's a setting to set a new cookie prefix. I'll write up a tutorial, but it's as simple as changing the prefix each time you want the message to reappear. 2
Sixth Sense Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Ehren, could you have a look at the PM I sent to you regarding one of your themes?

Ehren Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 All remaining 4.0.x themes should be upgraded and released for 4.1.x within the next 24 hours. All current 4.x themes will also receive bug upgrades and compatibility for 4.1.3.2, as well as new settings for a global dismissible message and avatar dimensions in topic view (restricted to square). 2

kotaco Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Awesome news, I see Dimension is now in the preview area, looking forward to the rest! 1
nodle Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 What about anyone with 10 themes and copyright removal? lol Just 10? Try 23. Can I get a Donator badge too Ehren? 1
Ehren Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Just 10? Try 23. Can I get a Donator badge too Ehren? Of course Subway has been coded for 4.1.x.. I'm just doing some final testing of the themes and will release the updates in a few hours. 1
Phillip Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Anything on Shift? Would be nice to see the changes in the code for it.
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Ehren on Dimension might want to make a More tab or something automatic or figure something out for smaller screens. I was just testing the responsiveness by shrinking and expanding the window and at certain resolutions this happens: The navigation has too many items so it creates a new line for the ones that won't fit and then the drop-down navigation of the far left item pulls up outside of the window view making it mostly in-operatable. Figured I should give you the heads up.
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Where is the edit button? Also this happens upon scrolling down: You lose the search bar on smaller res, but the navi still jumps to second line even though there is space on first line.
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 On Uniform the search bar just breaks and jumps to top of the screen out of nowhere: Same on Chameleon: and Villian and Spectrum Animate has same bug as Dimension Sorry for so much posts, but you've disabled the edit button and I didn't check all of the themes the first two posts. :/
Ehren Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 What browser are you using..? None of those issues from your latest post happen for me. The bug from reply #142 doesn't really have a solution yet. When the navigation is set to a single line, the links won't automatically drop into a "More" menu since the javascript code isn't triggered (technically working as intended since I purposely removed the code which triggers it). Only thing I can suggest is to consolidate your navigation into manually assigned drop-down menu's (using the Menu Manager) until it fits on smaller resolutions. -- The edit button was removed since there were instances of customers posting support topics, then editing their post saying "Never mind, solved!", without posting their solution. Since the edit feature is no longer available, it's more common to see the customers returning to their topic and posting their solution, instead of removing their question entirely. 1
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 What browser are you using..? None of those issues from your latest post happen for me. search.jpg Latest version of FireFox. Did you shrink your window down? It happens just a bit before it's set to make the jump to tablet view.
Ehren Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Latest version of FireFox. Did you shrink your window down? It happens just a bit before it's set to make the jump to tablet view. I reduced my window to 980px (the last pixel value before the tablet break point) numerous times and never saw the issue. Firefox 42.0
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I reduced my window to 980px (the last pixel value before the tablet break point) numerous times and never saw the issue. Firefox 42.0 Strange, because it's happening for me on Firefox, Chrome, and IE; and I've discussed it with some others in IRC and they all seem to experience it as well. Also if you change theme on a smaller window, then expand the window; the background doesn't expand.
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Cleared cache and it no longer breaks on IE, but it's still breaking for me on FireFox 42. How do you check for specifics on what pixel width your window is in?
Koby Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Also, although it's not breaking in IE; it does have this problem:
