Ehren Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:07 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:07 AM As the topic title states, all current 3.2.0 skins are now compatible with IP.Board 3.2.1, Calendar 3.2.1, IP.Content 2.2.1 and Nexus 1.3.1
IanW Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:13 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:13 AM Thanks. Is there a list of templates / css files changed for say IP.Board? (not individual changes, just the actual templates)
AndrewL Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:18 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:18 AM What about Blog and Gallery, Ehren? Do we need to download a latest version (if we have 3.2) and install again? I have made a number of changes to css settings (mostly fonts)..... will I need to re-change all of them once again if I update? Thank you very much!

Ehren Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:24 AM Author Posted August 11, 2011 at 07:24 AM Andrew: Blog and Gallery weren't updated by IPS. Those updates will come later. I have added the "upgrade" feature to the 3.2.x skins, however I'm not 100% sure how it works just yet. When importing your skin, you'll see an Upgrade checkbox. Tick it, and it'll replace your existing 3.2.0 skin and upgrade it to 3.2.1. I'm not sure if it erases your modifications though, so I guess someone needs to be the guinea pig!
AndrewL Posted August 11, 2011 at 08:24 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 08:24 AM OK thanks. Come on guinea pigs!!
IanW Posted August 11, 2011 at 08:55 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 08:55 AM Did a test and not only does it remove any changes it also deletes any custom template bits! I would avoid the upgrade feature.
Deano Posted August 11, 2011 at 11:16 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 11:16 AM When upgrading, will I lose the custom work I did? Or when do so when I click upgrade existing skin It would affect anything? I've never installed an ungraded skin before so please forgive me for my ignorance
Ehren Posted August 11, 2011 at 11:23 AM Author Posted August 11, 2011 at 11:23 AM According to Ian, all custom modifications are removed..
Deano Posted August 11, 2011 at 11:26 AM Posted August 11, 2011 at 11:26 AM O boy, didn't see that so If I upgrade my board to 3.2.1 will the skin still work?
loz Posted August 11, 2011 at 12:42 PM Posted August 11, 2011 at 12:42 PM Ehren, the templates listed are the templates affected for 3.2.1? So just those files need updating?
The Heff Posted August 11, 2011 at 03:57 PM Posted August 11, 2011 at 03:57 PM Thanks for the heads up Ehren. I will start backing up my changes!
Trancehed Posted August 11, 2011 at 09:47 PM Posted August 11, 2011 at 09:47 PM Do we need to update images as well or just the skin files?
Ehren Posted August 12, 2011 at 12:36 AM Author Posted August 12, 2011 at 12:36 AM O boy, didn't see that so If I upgrade my board to 3.2.1 will the skin still work? The 3.2.0 skin will still work on 3.2.1, but I'm not sure if there will be any errors on some pages. There were a few updates needed, so if you haven't made many modifications, I would probably suggest upgrading the skin if you move to 3.2.1 Ehren, the templates listed are the templates affected for 3.2.1? So just those files need updating? Yep - they're all the changed files from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1 Do we need to update images as well or just the skin files? Just the skin files. Images are the same as 3.2.0 1
AndrewL Posted August 12, 2011 at 08:31 AM Posted August 12, 2011 at 08:31 AM Did a test and not only does it remove any changes it also deletes any custom template bits! I would avoid the upgrade feature. Hmmm. I'm confused now. Do you think we shouldn't upgrade to 3.2.1 then? Not sure what the benefits are actually to the upgrade (I have seen the list bit doesn't really form in my mind)
AndrewL Posted August 12, 2011 at 08:33 AM Posted August 12, 2011 at 08:33 AM Thanks for the heads up Ehren. I will start backing up my changes! This may well be a very dumb question but..... is there an easy way to know what changes I have made? (I didn't make notes when I did my changes)
Ehren Posted August 12, 2011 at 11:38 PM Author Posted August 12, 2011 at 11:38 PM is there an easy way to know what changes I have made? I don't believe so, no.
The Heff Posted August 13, 2011 at 02:47 PM Posted August 13, 2011 at 02:47 PM I have a hidden forum board which is only visible to me, with a post per 'file'. This way, I have a record of what changes I made and where. 1
Deano Posted August 13, 2011 at 03:48 PM Posted August 13, 2011 at 03:48 PM that is a great idea Ed, thanks for sharing.
The Heff Posted August 13, 2011 at 06:53 PM Posted August 13, 2011 at 06:53 PM No worries. I find the simple solutions work the best.
