Plato Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:10 AM Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:10 AM I was trying to purchase a theme for IPB + Branding removal, but paypal keeps showing a $10 renewal fee every 6 months. I wasn't aware of any renewal charges, and looking through the forums, it doesn't seem like there are any. Do you have any idea why it keeps showing up? $60.00 USD for the first 6 months Then $10.00 USD for each 6 months The $10 every 6 months shows up when I try to purchase the theme by itself OR with the branding removal.
Solution Ehren Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:46 AM Solution Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:46 AM Hi Plato, Welcome to ipbfocus. Renewal fee's are being introduced for the 4.x themes, and already exist on some 3.x themes. For any themes which you pay a renewal on, you will receive the updated 4.x version at no extra charge. Renewals are discussed on the Frequently Asked Questions page, on the skins page (just below the description), and by pressing the Pricing Information button (screenshot attached). I've noticed the description was missing from the Shift skin page, so I've just added it. Copyright removal is a one time fee, and no renewal fee's apply for that product.. they only apply for the actual theme. If you decide you no longer need support (or if you only want to renew in the future once 4.x is released), you're welcome to cancel your subscription, continue using your theme on your site, and renew at any point in the future. Hopefully that answers your question.. let me know if you have any more and I'll be happy to help!
Plato Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:48 AM Author Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:48 AM Is it okay for me to cancel subscription/renewal after purchase if I don't plan to upgrade my forum (thus not needing a skin upgrade)? If so, according to FAQ, I'll only have 6 months of support. Am I correct? Looking forward to using your skin, Ehren!
Ehren Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:49 AM Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:49 AM I just edited my above post as you were replying. If you decide you no longer need upgrades or support (or if you only want to renew in the future once 4.x is released), you're welcome to cancel your subscription, continue using your theme on your site, and renew at any point in the future. Put simply, if you cancel at any point within the next 6 months, you'll only be paying $30 for the theme (plus copyright if you decide to add that too). And yes, even if you cancel your subscription you'll still receive 6 months of updates and support which are included with the theme.
Plato Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:51 AM Author Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:51 AM Okay perfect. .Also in FAQ, the "upgrade page" link is broken. How much is an upgrade, should I eventually want to do so? Thanks again for the answers.
Ehren Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:53 AM Posted August 12, 2014 at 06:53 AM Thanks for the heads up - I've fixed the URL on the questions page. The upgrade page is only for custom themes, and prices usually vary depending on the theme. A rough estimate is $250, however this will fluctuate depending on the demand for my work and the complexity of the theme.
