Perry
Hello people. I was just wondering, is there an online demo of each skin setup? I was just wondering, im thinking of possibly purchasing one, and wanted to see what it actually looked like working. If not, maybe consider setting one up? Just convenient for those who would really like to see what the skin looks like working. If there is one set up, where can i view it? Thank you in advance. -Perry
Ehren
We currently have a testing board up, however it is admin access only. The main problem with showcasing purchaseable skins is that the images can be stolen easier, and in some cases, this is how skins can be stolen. I will look around, and see if I can come up with a solution If not, I will create a 'customer' account on the test forums, and you can have a look around
Escrima
Yeah, it is very easy to rip a skin if you have an online demo of it. If you come up with a solution Ghost i'd be impressed .
Heretic
Yeah, whatever you dont do host a live demo. Hell easy to rip, i can do it with my eyes closed - *Looks at extrempixels and transversestyles* LOL!
yoshiteru
The thing is, people can easily rip skins anyways. They just look at someones name on this forum who has the usertitle "Customer" and then they visit their website. I don't see why it would be so bad to have a live skin demo. Besides ExtremePixels & TransverseStyles regardless of all the people ripping their skins they still make a ton of money. Same with VBulletin and IPB, you have to look at the opportunity cost of the situation. And in this case, people can easily go to other peoples sites and rip them so you might as well put a live demo up for people who will actually buy your skins. Thus giving them another reason to buy your skins because they think that the skin looks + works so damn well
hamishmcgee
Also, when you find a site that has ripped one of your skins, you get to take 'em down hard!
Pezza
Also, when you find a site that has ripped one of your skins, you get to take 'em down hard! Easier said than done though.
Perry
Easier said than done though. wink.gif Not at all. You have no way of knowing which sites paid for the skin and which sites didn't. Even if you placed a tracing script on the skin, someone could easily nullify the skin and place it on warez websites. Not very easy, at all. Ehren
Not at all. You have no way of knowing which sites paid for the skin and which sites didn't.I have a list of all of the sites who have bought skins. If there is a site which hasn't, then I can take action
Perry
I have a list of all of the sites who have bought skins. If there is a site which hasn't, then I can take action Yes, that is a good idea. It may, however, start to get confusing once you reach the thousands sale point
Headshot
What about a flash movie ? Just record while you browse true the forum and upload that movie
Adam!
what about like making your full skin into 1 image then put a preview watermark over it then make it a background image on a normal webpage then just use hotspots on the webpage to link everything up making it seem like your browsing a forum when really all you are doing is viewin actual sized images on a webpage. With the watermark and only one image this eliminates ripping of the images. And since your only displaying images this fully eliminates any css code at all. Problem solved
Ehren
Yeah, I've seen that done in a few places. If I decide to continue to make premade skins for 2.2, then I'll do it like that

Adam!
thats about as secure as chocolate handcuffs.. its easy to poach any images you want if you look in the right places.. Also you can get past right-click protection by pressing return at the same time as right clicking really easy and simple and as you say about as secure as choc handcuffs
