Theme updates: 4.6.12

Hi everyone!

Following the release of Invision Community 4.6.12 yesterday, I've released a small update to all themes which addresses a couple of minor bugs:

  • An unwanted margin which was added to author columns in 4.6.12 has been removed.
  • Long usernames in the Gallery sidebar will no longer stretch the layout.
  • The Stripe form has improved contrast, making it easier to read text inputs in dark themes.

The updated themes are available in the Client Area and will be available in the Invision Marketplace over the next couple of days 🙂

Thanks for that 🙂 I've just gone to the Marketplace, and it's only showing v4.6.11.1 as the latest version.  Are we behind, or is it just showing the wrong version?

The files on the marketplace will be available shortly 🙂

Hi Ehren...since every time this happens I'm unable to log in to my test site (either homepage or adminCP) and must restore a backup, can you please tell me if there's a way to tweak settings to reset the theme to default so that I can log in and upload the revised theme?  This has become very irritating...not blaming you of course, but I really wish there were some safeguard which allowed admins to log in instead of crippling the entire site!

From the official knowledgebase:

Quote

Recovery Mode (Self hosted only)

If you get to the point in which you cannot get to the admin CP, nor the front end, you can try using our new recovery mode function. In order to use this, you would add the following line to a constants.php file within your installations main directory

<?php
define('RECOVERY_MODE',True);

Once this is set, you can visit your ACP location and log in. On login you will see something similar to the below, which will be disabling 3rd party items, resetting default themes, and attempting to get you to a stock position so you can log in (it will not be deleting anything, don't worry)

On login after enabling recovery

After this is complete, you will be shown a list of all items which have been disabled, and you will be informed to remove the line from your constants file. It is important that you do this, as you will not be able to navigate to any area of the admin CP until you have done so.

Recovery Complete

You will then be able to enable items one at a time until the system breaks, in order to determine which of these items is causing your system not to function.

For cloud installation you need to create a ticket.

EDIT: Oh, I found that you created also a topic on the Invision forum and Recovery Mode had no effect:

This sounds very strange. I’ve never had that issue, nor do I know the solution unfortunately - but it seems like Marc may have solved it for you on the Invision forums 🙂

@Ehren

Yeah, I've never encountered the issue too, even on a local host test installation. One thing to note is that I always keep the admin screen on during an upgrade and as soon as the upgrade completes I go to clear system caches in ACP. I do that because before I had an issue that the re-opened ACP style got so mangled that I was not even able to recognise the left panel options...

But still, the issue described by the OP is so odd. I believe there is something with other third-party customisations.

Thanks for all the responses!  I'll have to check out Marc's response.  And yeah, it does strike me as quite odd...I'd check out 3rd-party customizations, but when it happens I can't do anything lol!  But we'll see what happens with Marc's response.

@liquidfractal

I followed your topic and ... it turned out to be the cache! So maybe next time you could do the same as I described:

Closing the forum before upgrading and clearing the Caches before re-opening is crucial 👌
