Nick_TMC Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Is IPB 3 going to be a nightmare for you Ehren? I would have thought you will be getting a lot of requests from past skin owners wanting their skins updating, any idea how busy you are going to be? (looking at the other posts on the forum it looks like your busy enough already!) I'm planning on getting a custom skin for my forum after IPB 3 is live, would your custom skin include an IPB gallery skin? I'd like the rest of the site to look the same as the forum, could you do templates for other pages of the site? (looking at about 5 pages)
Ehren Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Hey Nick, Yeah - it'll be a lot of work, especially with all of the upgrades. I'm guessing a few people are going to wait until IPB 3 before they get their custom skin made aswell, so first-time customers will also pile on the work. If I can keep on top of things, all should be good. Custom skins can be made for the forum, and any other IPS component such as the gallery, blogs, download manager, etc. A website design which matches your forum skin can also be done - but the cost for the entire job will depend on how complex your design is
Nick_TMC Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 Thanks for the replies Ehren can you incorporate javascript dropdown menus like this site http://www.ivetan.co.uk I think it uses moo tools
Bitter Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Putting our skins on IP .Board 3 will probably take a lot of effort, but is manageable, like always. I know modifications will be less of a pain to update for IP .Board 3, though. If only it were easier for skins. Bitter.
Nick_TMC Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 The changes are very extensive, the entire skin has been recreated from the ground up. The template system itself has also changed, so that most views are now represented by a single template, rather than lots of little templates as was the case with IPB2. In other words, the changes are extensive enough to the point that converting skins won't be a simple matter for novice skinners. In many cases it will be easier to just start the skin over.CSS class names are entirely different, the xHTML is entirely different (e.g. tables only used for tabular data), the template functions are compressed, and we use template plugins to accomplish things previously done in the source files unnecessarily. The look of many pages is entirely different. The changes are quite extensive. Ehren still here or has he just run off?
Nick_TMC Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Just had a look at the new IPB3... I am really going to need a new skin

Ehren Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Yeah... I'm going to make myself my own default I think..
Trippy Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Will you be upgrading the premade skins? If so will the premade skins be freely available to the people who baught them before 3.0. If you arent going to be upgrading them, will you give those who baught them before 3.0 an option to get a new skin from you at a lower price. Thanks, Trippy
Ehren Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Hey, Yeah - the premade skins will be upgraded.. Anyone who has purchased them will get a slight discount - yet to be determined
Brandon.N Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I think that some of the users will wait until the IPB beta comes out before they request skins. Right now it is in alpha. So a lot more is to come. I myself am sticking with IPB 2.3.6 With all the work and modifications put into my site, IPB 3 would just wipe them all out :/
Putzy Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Hey,Yeah - the premade skins will be upgraded.. Anyone who has purchased them will get a slight discount - yet to be determined YEEEESSS! I didn't see this post, so now my most recent email to you makes me look mongish!
