Ehren Posted February 19, 2011 at 07:40 AM Posted February 19, 2011 at 07:40 AM As always, I'm happy to announce the release of a new IPB skin, this time one called Imperial. It is a modern design with an elegant colour scheme and packed with features including jQuery powered navigation, a quick login box, customizable topic layouts and avatars as post icons. Take a look at a live demo or read up on all of it's features on the skin page. After the successful release of Gravity Green, a blue version of the skin has also been released. Any suggestions or feedback is welcome.
Gemalde Posted February 19, 2011 at 09:33 AM Posted February 19, 2011 at 09:33 AM The font is a little small, but beside that its a beautiful skin!
Putzy Posted February 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM Posted February 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM I love it as a skin design, but the font could be slightly larger. As a side: What features will be lost if I was to remove jQuery from the skin? I hate using both Prototype and jQuery on the same webpage, when it's a whole lot better just to code the features in Prototype/Scriptaculous in the first place.
Vicros Posted February 19, 2011 at 10:43 AM Posted February 19, 2011 at 10:43 AM Very nice skin Ehren. I may be purchasing this one.
Ehren Posted February 19, 2011 at 12:40 PM Author Posted February 19, 2011 at 12:40 PM Increasing the font size is no problem.. might do that actually. Putzy: I have never been a fan of prototype and don't plan on adopting it for future skins. If you were to remove jQuery, you would lose the login box, animated navigation bar and the customizable topic view. The jQuery file is cached on googles servers (and has a local fallback if google doesn't load), so the files are loaded almost instantaneously and the skin doesn't lag, nor does it noticeably take longer to load compared to my other skins (most of which use jQuery aswell). They're compatible with each other, so why not make the best of both worlds.
nodle Posted February 19, 2011 at 02:35 PM Posted February 19, 2011 at 02:35 PM Great skin Ehren. I agree though I think the font size should be 12px from 11px. This also fixes the blurry font in the search.
Ehren Posted February 19, 2011 at 11:02 PM Author Posted February 19, 2011 at 11:02 PM I increased it from 11px to 11.5px since 12px seemed quite large, but anyone is welcome to adjust it accordingly on their own site.
nodle Posted February 20, 2011 at 03:17 AM Posted February 20, 2011 at 03:17 AM Hey there Ehren I noticed the "back to top" button was missing in the skin, was this on purpose?
Ehren Posted February 20, 2011 at 04:01 AM Author Posted February 20, 2011 at 04:01 AM It was yeah.. although it can be re-added without much hassle. I removed it because the "basic" topic view looked too cramped with it. I might change this in a later version so it's visible in the detailed view only.
Feneroin Posted February 20, 2011 at 02:33 PM Posted February 20, 2011 at 02:33 PM Nice and clean skin. PURCHASED ! 1
Feneroin Posted February 20, 2011 at 05:07 PM Posted February 20, 2011 at 05:07 PM I increased it from 11px to 11.5px since 12px seemed quite large, but anyone is welcome to adjust it accordingly on their own site. You have upgraded from customer downloads also? Because now i have installed and the font size is ok for me
nodle Posted February 20, 2011 at 06:49 PM Posted February 20, 2011 at 06:49 PM You have upgraded from customer downloads also? Because now i have installed and the font size is ok for me Yes Ehren fixed the font size in the Customer Downloads section.
Ehren Posted February 21, 2011 at 12:57 AM Author Posted February 21, 2011 at 12:57 AM I've just updated this topic with Gravity Blue for those who are interested
nodle Posted February 21, 2011 at 02:31 AM Posted February 21, 2011 at 02:31 AM Your on a roll Ehren, keep it up!
Vicros Posted February 21, 2011 at 02:32 PM Posted February 21, 2011 at 02:32 PM Love both of these skins Ehren.
Aeirex Posted February 22, 2011 at 12:11 AM Posted February 22, 2011 at 12:11 AM They look nice Ehren. I noticed the text for Register Now! changes to Register when you click on it though. (Gravity Blue)
Ehren Posted February 22, 2011 at 12:18 AM Author Posted February 22, 2011 at 12:18 AM Strange bug, although that also happens on the default skin which means it's a language issue. You can manually change it to "Register Now" if you like, but I need to keep it using the language replacement incase someone is using a language other than English.
DavoteK Posted February 22, 2011 at 05:54 PM Posted February 22, 2011 at 05:54 PM Gravity Blue, YUS~! Now just need Gravity Red to complete the collection
ajmboy Posted February 23, 2011 at 12:40 AM Posted February 23, 2011 at 12:40 AM Gravity Blue, YUS~! Now just need Gravity Red to complete the collection Gravity Red would be nice! In the Imperial skin, are the forum icons customizable? How does that work?
Ehren Posted February 23, 2011 at 01:19 AM Author Posted February 23, 2011 at 01:19 AM It's exactly the same as any other skin, so yeah - they can be changed easily.
