Concept X Posted June 9, 2006 at 09:07 PM Posted June 9, 2006 at 09:07 PM I think we should have a complete ipb skill tutorial, it would be long and hard yes but extreamly usefull, bring traffic and gain more respect and i certanily would love it, also regarding piracy what are IPB's policys on it, of course they say they will do stuff about it but i've heard they dont really care because its still advertising there product and they used to be free anyway, but if they find illegal forums do they do as VB do and send a e-mail requiring the board to be taken down within 48 hours or they will take legal action? dotn worry this is just a general question lol Thanks
Ehren Posted June 9, 2006 at 11:30 PM Posted June 9, 2006 at 11:30 PM It would take ages, and there would be no point to skinning sites because everyone would be able to do it, lol. There are a few css guides around the place though
Concept X Posted June 10, 2006 at 12:04 AM Author Posted June 10, 2006 at 12:04 AM suppose your right, ive just started learning CSS so ill have a look at them, what about the lisence thing?
Ehren Posted June 10, 2006 at 12:39 AM Posted June 10, 2006 at 12:39 AM If you board's illegal, it will be taken down.
yoshiteru Posted June 10, 2006 at 12:59 AM Posted June 10, 2006 at 12:59 AM I have actually owned an illegal board at one time, shortly after I bought skins from this site I purchased a legal version. Yes, they do email you. But they do not have a very thorough anti-piracy team. There whole team is made up of volunteers as well. They emailed me once and still hadn't taken action a year after the fact. I was just waiting until I had the money (because honestly I didnt mind paying, I just didn't have the money at that time).
Perry Posted June 10, 2006 at 03:55 AM Posted June 10, 2006 at 03:55 AM There is, with their large database of purchases, no way to keep track of who has purchase a board and who hasn't. IPB versions with the tracker have been nullified and put up for download.
yoshiteru Posted June 10, 2006 at 07:31 PM Posted June 10, 2006 at 07:31 PM Yeh, but at one point I had a nullified board and they caught me. So I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Perry Posted June 12, 2006 at 01:32 AM Posted June 12, 2006 at 01:32 AM IPB skinning can only be taught to a certain point. Sure, you can teach the css/html shell, and which image is which, but the main skill needed is that of graphic designing; which can not be taught (trust me, I have tried numoerous amounts of times).
Escrima Posted June 12, 2006 at 02:49 PM Posted June 12, 2006 at 02:49 PM It can be taught..quite easily lol. I taught my friend in 2 hours..
Concept X Posted June 12, 2006 at 04:05 PM Author Posted June 12, 2006 at 04:05 PM obviously i would know the graphical needs needed in creating a skin, what i was sayign was coding a skin which is what i dont know, im perfectly fine on the graphical side
